Effective date: October 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information RC Event Finder ("we", "us") collects when you use rceventfinder.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. RC Event Finder is a directory of radio control (RC) events, flying fields, tracks and train layouts.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, username, email address and password when you register. Passwords are stored encrypted (hashed); we cannot see them.
- Listings you submit: event and location details such as titles, dates, addresses, descriptions, fees, club names, websites, contact names and contact emails, plus any files or images you upload (for example, event flyers).
- Messages to us: anything you send through contact or report forms, or by email.
Information from public sources
To build a useful directory, we may add events, clubs, fields and tracks using information that organizers have published publicly (for example, on a club website, flyer or social media page). This can include an organizer's or club's name and a contact email address. We use that email only to let the contact know the listing exists and to let them claim, correct or remove it.
Information collected automatically
- Log and device data: IP address, browser type, pages visited and the date and time of each request, as recorded by our web server and security software.
- Cookies: we use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to protect forms against misuse. We also use Google Analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the Site. We do not use advertising cookies.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages and links are used (for example, clicks on a club's website, Join or Facebook links). Google Analytics collects device and browser details, approximate location, pages viewed and links clicked. It does not store your IP address. We do not use Google Analytics advertising features or send Google your name or email address.
2. How we use information
- To run the Site: show listings, maps and calendars, and let you create and manage an account.
- To review and publish submissions. Listings are checked before they go live.
- To verify email addresses, both at registration and when someone claims a listing. Claim links are sent only to the contact email already stored on the listing.
- To send service emails, such as account confirmation, password resets, approval notices and claim invitations.
- To keep the Site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. What is shown publicly
Event and location details you submit (such as title, dates, address, fees, club name and website) are published on the Site once approved. Contact email addresses are not shown publicly. They are visible only to Site staff and are used for verification and claim requests.
4. Service providers we use
- Web hosting: our hosting provider stores the Site and its database.
- Email delivery: SMTP2GO sends the Site's emails on our behalf.
- Maps: map tiles and address lookups come from OpenStreetMap. When a page shows a map, your browser requests map images from OpenStreetMap servers, which receive your IP address.
- Analytics: Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager (Google LLC) measure how the Site is used. See how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of users or the public, or as part of a sale or transfer of the Site.
5. Claim emails and opting out
If your email appears on a listing, we may send you one invitation to claim it. Every claim email includes a link to stop future claim emails. You can also email us to have a listing corrected or removed.
6. How long we keep information
We keep account information while your account is active. Past events may stay in the directory as an archive. Claim records and security logs are kept as long as needed to prevent abuse and resolve disputes. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
7. Your choices and rights
- You can view and update your account details by logging in, or ask us to correct or delete your information.
- You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Economic Area), you may have additional rights, such as the right to know, delete, correct or limit use of your information, and the right not to be treated differently for using them. We honor these requests as required by law.
- You can block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or through your browser's cookie settings.
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it.
8. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, security software and regular backups. No website can be completely secure.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, post a notice on the Site.
