Sacramento Area Modelers (SAM)

Sacramento Area Modelers (SAM) is AMA club #1822, founded in 1982, with about 210 members. The club flies at a field on the south side of Florin Rd in eastern Sacramento County, with a paved runway, an adjacent grass strip, asphalt pits, a helicopter pad and covered tables with power. The site is an FAA-Recognized Identification Area. Training is free with club instructors, and juniors under 18 fly free. First-time visitors fly free, and a $10 day-use program is available for occasional visitors. Turbines are not allowed. General meetings are held at the field on Sundays at 11 am every few months, and the club runs events such as pylon races and a STOL competition.
