About the club
Kern Model Aircraft Kontrollers (KMAK) is AMA club #2506, based in the Kern River Valley with about 35 members. The club flies at the Hanning Flat Radio Controlled Airfield on Sierra Way between Weldon and Kernville, near Lake Isabella. Hanning Flat is an approved FAA-Recognized Identification Area, so paid KMAK members do not need Remote ID there. Members usually fly Wednesday and Saturday mornings, weather permitting, and guest pilots and spectators are welcome. AMA lists pilot instruction and youth programs. The club has no formal meeting schedule; members often meet for breakfast or lunch after flying. Model inspection is required at the field.
