San Gabriel Valley RC League (SGVRCL)

The San Gabriel Valley RC League (AMA #154), founded in 1962, flies at the Model Hobby Area of LA County's Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in South El Monte. The field has paved runways, a clubhouse, a covered shelter, restrooms, power and charging, and a heli pad. Glow, gas and electric aircraft, pylon racers, helicopters and float planes are flown; turbines and jets are not allowed. The club is known for pylon racing, including the Denis Lyon Memorial Pylon Race and NMPRA races, and also holds Warbirds Over Whittier, a winter auction and regular float flies. Pilot instruction is available. Guests with an AMA card are welcome.
