Guest pilots fly as a member's guest with AMA and a guest card; visitors welcome when members are present.

Recreational pilots need an FAA TRUST certificate, and aircraft over 250 g must be FAA registered.

About this field

The Salinas Area Modelers field is a former county landfill on Chualar Dump Rd, off Chualar River Rd south of Salinas, leased by the club since 1986. It has an asphalt runway, a clubhouse, covered shelter, porta-pots, tables, workbenches, a helicopter pad and a park-flyer area.

The field is gated and locked when no members are there. Weekends usually open by 9 am, and regulars fly Tuesday and Thursday mornings; afternoon winds often stop flying. Mufflers are required. Visitors are welcome when members are present, and guest pilots fly as a member's guest with AMA and a guest card.
