About this field

Apollo XI is a public park in the Sepulveda Basin set aside for radio-controlled model aircraft, operated with the San Fernando Valley RC Flyers (Valley Flyers). Model flying at the site dates back to 1950.

The field has separate areas for fixed-wing aircraft over 1 lb (main runway), small electric park flyers and gliders, helicopters and drones, and control-line circles. It is turbine approved. Facilities include shaded pits, setup tables, restrooms, charging stations, first aid and a large parking lot.

The field faces east; typical wind is light (5-15 mph) from the south. It is located northwest of the 405/101 interchange.
